Ons Jabeur indicates that she and her husband were “surprised” by the pregnancy, but underlines that they are thrilled about becoming parents for the first time. 

Jabeur, who put a curtain on her 2025 season after Wimbledon because she wanted to address her well-being and rediscover her joy for tennis once again, shared in an Instagram post that she was expecting her first child. The former world No. 2 also revealed in her post that the baby was due to arrive in April.

“Took a little break to reset and recharge… Turns out, we’ve been planning the cutest comeback ever. The court will have to wait a little longer, because soon… we’ll be welcoming our tiniest teammate. Baby boy joining the team in April,” the Tunisian announced last week.

Jabeur: We were surprised… Couldn’t believe it

“We were surprised and, in the beginning, we couldn’t believe it. But we couldn’t be happier,” the 2022 and 2023 Wimbledon finalist told The National.

Jabeur, who celebrated her 31st birthday in August, probably won’t play any tennis in 2025. And that means that if she wants to return to tennis, she will be 32 when that happens and probably out of action for a year and a half. Naturally, that led to some speculating about whether she would play again. However, in the Tunisian’s mind, a comeback is a sure thing. 

“I’m not retiring like most of the people think, I’ll be coming back someday,” the 31-year-old underlined. 

If you can recall, a heartbroken Jabeur burst into tears after losing to Marketa Vondrousova in the 2023 Wimbledon final. Later, the Tunisian shared that she wanted so badly to become a Grand Slam champion so she could take a pause from tennis and accomplish her motherhood goals. 

“I win that [final] I could have a baby right away. And that dream faded. I was haunted by fear,” Jabeur revealed in her documentary “This is Me,” that premiered in early 2024.
