Emma Raducanu used the word “terrible” to describe how she felt about some of the questions asked about her love life during Wimbledon, especially the one posed to Cameron Norrie.
After it was confirmed that Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz would play mixed doubles together at the US Open, fans but also the media started heavily speculating whether there had been something going on on a personal level. On several instances, both the WTA star and the five-time Grand Slam champion shut down those rumors. However, the questions kept coming.
The most stunning moment came during one of Norrie’s press conference, when a reporter posed him this question: “Can I ask if you’re dating her? Can we get to the bottom of this please?” Needless to say, the 29-year-old was left absolutely stunned by the question.

Raducanu reacts to questions surrounding her love
Tumaini Carayol of The Guardian told Raducanu during their interview that he “cringed” so much watching people ask questions about people’s romantic lives at Wimbledon. The 2021 US Open champion responded: “Yeah, and Cam’s questions, too. That was terrible. Terrible.”
While Raducanu certainly isn’t a fan of such questions being asked, she highlights that she understands that people in general will always be more curious about her personal life than what she does on the court – simply because that’s the case for most popular athletes.
“I know, I know. I guess it comes with the territory, people being so curious. I think they’re more curious about this news than any tennis results and tennis news. But I just keep to myself, my private life to one side. It’s always funny when people try to find something out, but I try not to read into it so much,” the top-ranked British female tennis player explained.
As mentioned above, Raducanu is set to play mixed doubles with Alcaraz at the US Open, and it won’t be surprising at all if they get asked certain questions once again.
