The echoes of thrilling rallies and championship points have finally faded, but the energy from this year’s Bonmont Masters is still palpable. What a tournament! From the nail-biting qualifiers to the spectacular finals, 2025 delivered some of the finest grass-court tennis Grass Tennis Club has ever had the privilege to see.
The folks at Bonmont want to extend a huge congratulations to our champions and a heartfelt thank you to every single player, official, and spectator who made the event an unforgettable success. The level of sportsmanship and the shared passion for this unique surface were on full display.
The Courts Never Sleep: Preparing for 2026
While the players may be taking a well-deserved break, our work on the hallowed turf is just beginning. As any grass-court enthusiast knows, a world-class tournament is built from the ground up—literally.
The moment the nets came down, our grounds team began the intensive post-tournament renovation. This is a critical period where we meticulously work to restore the courts and prepare them for the seasons ahead. The process includes:
- Scarification and Aeration: Removing the thatch from the season’s play and punching deep into the soil to relieve compaction. This allows vital air, water, and nutrients to reach the grass roots.
- Overseeding: We’re currently seeding with a premium blend of perennial ryegrass, chosen for its durability, colour, and ability to produce the fast, true bounce that defines the Bonmont experience.
- Top-Dressing: A fine layer of loam is being applied to level the surface, protect the new seeds, and ensure a perfectly smooth playing field for next year.
This off-season work is a commitment to the players and fans to ensure the courts in 2026 are not just as good as 2025, but even better.
Looking Ahead: The 2026 Bonmont Masters
The team are already deep into planning for next year’s tournament, working on a few enhancements to the player and spectator experience.
