Carlos Alcaraz’s run at the US Open was nothing short of spectacular! The young gun dropped one set and three service games at Flushing Meadows, displaying flawless tennis and leaving everyone behind.

His stunning performance did not go unnoticed by Feliciano Lopez. The veteran praised the 22-year-old for his composure, shot selection and relentless determination during his quest toward the sixth Major trophy.

Alcaraz showcased remarkable maturity in New York, working hard on the improvements following the Wimbledon final defeat. The El Palmar native blended raw power with subtle variations to keep his opponents off balance.

Carlos’ serve and return proved more effective than ever at Majors, allowing him to wrap up the campaign nearly without losing a set. The 22-year-old dictated the pace in the rallies and kept them on his racquet, wrapping up the tournament with over 1000 winners!

Lopez highlighted Alcaraz’s forehand as a lethal weapon that pushed his rivals behind the baseline and in difficult position. Carlos added finesse to his power game, mixing the pace with smart slices and adjusting the height of his shots.

Thus, he broke the rhythm of his rivals and moved forward to the net for a perfect execution. The result? A complete performance that highlighted his tactical awareness and mental toughness.

Beyond stats and victories, Carlos’ campaign carried a special significance for Spanish tennis. Feliciano described him as a blessing and a source of pride for their country!

“Carlos served and returned better than at Wimbledon. He entered the court intending to take control of the match, less concerned about what Jannik would throw at him.

After a serve, he often started the rally with his forehand and dominated the points. With such a powerful forehand, he is unstoppable. He mixed up the speed and height in rallies, alongside his slice backhand, when necessary.

He stepped up to the net at every opportunity, putting Jannik in difficulty. His energy and determination to get into the match were also decisive. There were also magical moments. Carlos once again delighted us, and I’m thrilled to have been able to write about it.

He is a blessing for tennis and a source of pride for our country,” Feliciano Lopez said.
