Grass Tennis Club · The Rankings
Grass, ranked.
Grass is the oldest, shortest and most demanding season in tennis, and the only one without a ranking to call its own. So we built one. A family of rankings devoted entirely to the lawn, measured by a method that exists nowhere else in the sport.
Why we did this
Grass deserves to be measured on its own terms
Grass is where tennis began, the surface of the sport’s oldest championship, the most fleeting weeks of its calendar, and the most unforgiving test of a player’s craft. Low bounces, quick hands, shrinking margins: it rewards a very particular kind of genius. And yet, for all its history and romance, grass has never had a ranking of its own. The official world lists are surface-blind by design; a point won on a hard court in Melbourne counts exactly the same as one won on Centre Court.
We think grass is different. We think it deserves to be judged on grass alone and nothing else.
What makes them unlike anything else
Four things no other ranking does
Grass, and grass alone
The only rankings that judge players purely on the lawn. Hard-court and clay results count for nothing here, only what a player does on grass, weighted by how well their game is built for it.
A proprietary method
Every rating is built by the LAWN model, our own weighted algorithm, and expressed as the GTC Grass Rating, a single 0–140 number. The full methodology is published openly, not hidden in a black box.
Alive, all season
These rankings breathe. They move with every grass match played, not once a year, so the list you see is always the truest reading of who is best on grass right now.
The whole world of grass
From today’s champions to the Victorian pioneers, from the finest clubs on earth to the greenkeeping that keeps their courts alive — one authority for the entire grass-court world.

The LAWN model
One number, the GTC Grass Rating, from four weighted pillars — chosen because between them they capture both what a player has done on grass and why their game does, or doesn’t, suit it.
Recency-weighted grass results — the part that moves.
Serve, slice, net and movement built for grass.
Performance at the grass Slam, weighted above all.
Stamina, clutch and quick-court adaptability.
